They moved to use different oils that did drop the amount of transfat in the popcorn. Ultimately the change 'failed'. It turns out that the change was not customer driven. Instead it was imposed by 'health nazis' who insisted that the amount of fat had to be reduced. The result was bad tasting popcorn. Since theaters make most of their money via consession sales, they eventually moved back to the great tasting stuff that will kill you. There was a move to ‘healthify’ movie popcorn 10 years ago.
