SubscribeAccording to numerous sources, Windows Vista Beta 2 downloads were to be cut off on June 30. If hadn’t finished your download by then, you could continue downloading it until July 14th.
However, I was able to start a download just fine. I’m still chugging away at 44 percent.
Take a look at my partial download file’s property dialog. The “date created” field reads July 6, 2006.
So… wuzzup with that? Is the Vista Beta still downloadable after all?

Joe - you can download the software but you won’t get a key (required during install). In order to get a key you will have needed to register before the cut-off. This download facility that you’re referring to will be terminated on July 14th, it’s there to allow people to complete downloads if they already have a key.

@Jeremy: Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish the download before July 14th because I was out of town for a week. But as Ian explained, it looks like I wouldn’t have been able to use the download anyway since I don’t have a key.

Well, I found your site; and I must say I envy the fact that you have your name as your domain; colinyoung.com is a cybersquatter, I believe…
At any rate, you’ve already got me bested in that people actually comment on your blog, so that’s good to see; and you manage to turn out entries reguarly! Very commendable. Anyway, keep up with the programming, etc, and good luck with all of that; and…PLEASE change your theme, dude. Kubrick is older than my mother…and the most “default” of any theme/style/skin since Luna.

@Colin: Well actually, I kinda like Kubrick; it’s the best theme I’ve found so far. However, I am planning to look into the K2 theme; it looks similar to Kubrick, and it has lots of cool AJAX stuff.
@Jeremy: Thank you very much for the offer! I had a little surprise today: I resumed my Vista Beta download and got from ~40% to ~60%. But then, unfortunately, at about 60% the download quit with a “fatal error.” I’m guessing Vista was pulled off the servers. (Although according to Microsoft that was supposed to happen on the 14th…) Anyway, it looks like I don’t have a copy of the Vista Beta at the moment; I’ll let you know if that changes. Also, thanks for letting me know about the K2 theme.
